Privacy Policy
Version 10 — 2 November 2026
This text is a translation: in case of any difference, the Italian text prevails.
1. Data controller
Ariel Samson, a natural person. For any privacy request: privacy@getunamano.app.
2. What data we process
- Guests: an anonymous session identifier.
- Registered users (Villagers): email address and password (the password is stored encrypted), the Villager number, and name and phone number only if you add them and, if you add them, whether you have WhatsApp on your number and your Telegram username, and, if you state it, your sex (woman or man).
- How you feel (optional): how you feel (woman, man, non-binary, trans woman, trans man, genderfluid, other), special-category data under Art. 9 GDPR: we store it only with your explicit consent, others see it, on the card of the quest creator and in the chat, only if you turn on "Show it to others", you can delete it at any time from the app and together with the account, and it is not used for the safety filters, which use the sex you state.
- Use of the app: the quests you create with their point on the map, the trust settings you put on your quests (minimum rank, private individuals only, women only or men only, price not negotiable, heavy work) and, if you provide it, the exact address (visible only to those accepted into the quest); your participations; the contacts you share and the contact requests you make and receive; the messages in quest chats; the stars given and received and the counters (quests participated in, organised, absences); your rank and how it was calculated (quests counted, missteps, periods when your profile was incomplete); absences and disputes, with the text you write; the reports you make and receive (reason and text) and the people you block; the code for sending you push notifications; the app language, to send you notifications in the right language; the version and date of the texts you have accepted.
- Quest photos (optional): up to 3 photos that you add to a quest you create. They are public: anyone who sees the quest can see them, even without an account and even on the map before joining. The person who uploads them is responsible for them. They are stored in Supabase Storage.
- Phone location: used only on the phone for the SCAN of nearby quests; it is not stored.
3. Why and on what legal basis
- To run the app and the services you request (performance of a contract, namely the terms of use you accept).
- Security and abuse prevention, for example handling absences, disputes and reports and suspending accounts that violate the terms (legitimate interest).
- How you feel: only with your explicit consent (Art. 9(2)(a) GDPR), which you can withdraw at any time by deleting it in the app.
- Ranks: your rank is calculated automatically from the quests you have done, absences and the stars you have received. It is a form of profiling, based on our legitimate interest in letting people trust one another. If a quest asks for a minimum rank, you cannot join with a lower rank. You can ask us how your rank was calculated and contest it by writing to privacy@getunamano.app.
We do not use your data for advertising and we do not sell it; the only profiling is the rank described above.
4. Who sees the data
Other users see only your Villager number, your name if you add it, the counters, the stars, your rank (from F to SS) and how many quests you have done of each kind, and what you post in the quests and chats they take part in. If you create a quest, your name, your rank and these numbers appear on the quest's card and anyone who looks at it on the map can see them, even without an account. Only you see the details of your rank (missteps, how far you are from the next step, activity). Nobody sees your email address. Reports are seen only by the controller: the person reported does not know who reported them. People you block receive no notice. Your phone number, WhatsApp and Telegram are seen only by the person you choose to share them with, in a quest, and only while you are both in the quest and the quest has not ended. You can withdraw them, but a copy the other person has already saved in their contacts cannot be taken back. Your sex, if you state it, is seen by nobody: it is used only to let you join "women only" or "men only" quests and to let you be found by those who filter quests by the sex of the person who created them. How you feel, if you state it with your explicit consent, is seen by others (on the card of the quest creator and in the chat) only if you turn on "Show it to others"; otherwise nobody sees it.
The photos you add to a quest are public: anyone who sees the quest can see them, even without an account. Do not include recognisable people without their consent, nor data that reveals your address, such as house numbers or number plates.
The following providers help us run the app and process data on our behalf:
- Supabase — database and login, servers in Ireland (EU);
- Resend — sending emails with login codes and report alerts to the controller, servers in Ireland (EU);
- Expo — sending push notifications, in the United States, with the safeguards required by the GDPR for data transfers;
- komoot (Photon) — suggests addresses while you type the street when creating a quest: it receives the text you type and the point on the map, servers in Germany (EU);
- Apple or Google — through the phone's system: they show the map and find place names from the points on the map;
- Vercel — hosts this website.
5. How long
For as long as you have an account. You can delete it at any time from the app (👤 Account → Delete account): your data is deleted immediately. Only the following remain, without an author ("Deleted account"): the quests you created (those still active are cancelled and any exact home address is deleted; the photos of your cancelled quests stay visible for up to 7 days, then they are deleted), the chat messages and stars you gave, and the reports you made or received, because they are part of other people's activities, conversations and scores; your blocks are deleted.
In any case we delete automatically: the exact address of a quest 7 days after it has ended; the photos of a quest 7 days after the quest has ended (done, cancelled or expired), or sooner if the photo is removed or the admin removes the quest: the file is actually deleted within about an hour; chat messages 12 months after the quest has ended; reports that have already been decided after 24 months.
6. Listings from other platforms
To make the app known, the controller manually publishes on the map some public listings taken from other platforms (for example Facebook groups, Subito, Vinted, Meetup): a rewritten title and description, an approximate area and the link to the original listing. We do not store photos or names. Each listing stays visible for 5 days and is deleted 7 days later. If you are the author of a listing and want us to remove it, write to privacy@getunamano.app: we remove it immediately. The basis is our legitimate interest in making the app known; you can object at any time.
7. Your rights
You can ask to access your data, correct it, erase it, restrict its processing, receive it in a readable format and object to its processing, by writing to privacy@getunamano.app. You can also lodge a complaint with the Garante per la protezione dei dati personali, the Italian data protection authority (garanteprivacy.it).
8. Minimum age
The app is reserved for people aged 16 or over.
9. This website
This website does not use cookies or tracking tools.
10. Changes
If this policy changes significantly, the new version will be shown to you in the app.
